Training Day 2

Training Day 2: January 3, 2012

Today we awakened, packed up, and headed off to Yosemite for a 2 day retreat! We drove straight to a hike that took us to a point looking directly at Half Dome. We ate a lunch at the top consisting of crackers, cheese, summer sausage and cuties! Such a GORGEOUS view. We took so many fun pictures! (we were trying to get some "on duty" pictures [for what we have to hang up every time it's our turn on duty])...they will be posted as soon as I have access to them! We then proceeded to start life stories! I always love a good life story. It brings people so much closer, and I can honestly say that I love my staff so much and they are already starting to feel like family. We then messed around...doing yoga, handstands, and boy band poses at the top of the cliff.

After, we drove down to Glacier Point. Here we were given 1 hour for "solo" time...I found an awesome secluded spot next to a huge drop off but gave a great view of the Half Dome once again...it was a great place for some alone time and to spend some time readying myself for this coming semester as a student and as a student leader. After, we all hiked up to the official "Glacier Point" and watched the sky and mountains turn pink and purple at sunset. (there's a name for this phenomenon...but I forgot...but all I know it was absolutely breath taking.) I have found that in nature is where I feel closest to the Lord...being that up front to His creation is mind blowing.

After this, we made it to our cozy cabin! We have staff challenges and the first one was making dinner! Tonight was the boy's night. They totally surprised us and made sure we never made it into the kitchen...even if they had to yell at us to get out! :) They ended us serving us what they called "life size lunchables..." which turned out to be pizzas! served with spinach and sweet tea! And...they made chocolate chip cookies for dessert! very yummy! After this, we did some more life stories and played some of the funnest games! We played  "Fax Machine" and my personal favorite "What if?" So many hilarious things were said...and we were all dying of laughter by the end of the night. Then we headed off to bed...but us girls were up a lot later having pillow talk of course! Have I said it enough?! I love my team.
